Neat pictures, everybody. I love to see what everyone is raising. It's almost like visiting. Maybe after POOPS we should have a virtual coop tour [says the person who still can't find her battery charger

].

Students are forming interesting faces from bread dough in class today. Measuring ingredients is going to be the hardest part. I had a student ask yesterday if two 1/4 cup measures equals one cup. Freshman, sheesh. I've made signs with pictures at each ingredient station. I hope we survive.

Sooner - I will have at least one White Chantecler hen at POOPS. I only have one roo so far. If I don't have chicks, I should have some eggs. They are laying, but it's inconsistent.

Good morning all, have been having some computer problems, just got caught up on the thread, yall have been busy! Have a blessed day all, these three day weeks are killin me!!!!! But I gotta go to work!!! Later, Lynn

Good Morning!!

I went to bed early last night & almost feel human!

Poco is that the breed Lil'Sooner asked you about? If so that is great & I will see if she is still interested. Thank you.

Did we get any rain last night?

morning folks! no rain here-

on the rooster= i learned the hard way, roosters aren't pets, and my flock deserves better than a mean roo, too much handling can make a mean roo- it isn't worth the risk to keep a mean roo- so rehome him - he's too beautiful to eat! My first roo was a BR and he would run down me, grandkids, guineas- i tried to rehab him, finally after attacking my grand daughter- enough all ready! Barny the Brahma was a good roo, Poco has him, but he came at me, so rather than let it go further swapped him with Poco for this fella- he is a couple years old, so he has settled down to being a protector of the gals-

here is another shot of Tatortot- so far she isn't showing any signs of distress- runs and jumps with the rest of them, but does sit alot- so Al, i plan on bringing her to poops for you

question- what is going on with Posers feathers??

Robin - Galahad looks wonderful! He seems to be enjoying his new home. Barny is Barny. He is not coming after me, but he's been a bit rough on the hens, so he's in a pen by himself right now. I'm going to wait a few days before I put him back with his girls.

No rain here either. Storms are predicted for Thursday and Friday.

Sooner - Yes. Madison asked about White Chantecler. I think I will have some chicks, and at least one adult female by POOPS. I only have one rooster out of the group I got from Sand Hill. It's an anomaly, for sure, to only get one rooster. Eggs are a possibility as well. I'm only getting one egg a day, though, so the maximum I'd have is 9 or 10. Beyond that they would be too old for hatching.

Off to work. I've got a couple extra aprons in my bag, just in case we have a burgeoning Julia Childs in class today. Bread dough faces are a blast to make, but they are messy, messy, messy. Have a good day, everyone.

hey coral, he is a pleasure to watch! he seems to just glide- reminds me of an arabian horse

poor barny! just too much hormones in that fella!

had a coon poking around last nite- so need to reinforce the small coops today and set the trap- he was oblivious of me taking pics, was a few feet away- so dave let sassy out, the chihuahua, she told him what for, and he wandered off- he'll be getting relocated if we catch him in the trap tonite

Great looking birds and well taken photos. Have you considered submitting some of them to the "Workday Chicken Pictures"? You already have the captions - "On a windy day, What does Delaware . . . fluffy britches"

What is "Workday Chicken Pictures" ?

Robin : I agree to the tenth degree in regards to developing a roosters behavior, I never coddle or hand feed any of my chickens regardless of gender or age, I never handle them except for addressing medical issues or administering any medication. They don't have names, never get talked to except when I make loud declaration to them telling them I need more egg's. They know who is the Alpha is and are fine with it because they know I won't harm them and that's good enough for them, WTS they are healthy, happy, and very well cared for which is just dandy for all considered.

Barney was always and I say always been a great rooster for me because of this philosophy, he was never rough with hen's and always on his best behavior.

My husband and my son say that if you know how many guns you have, you don't have enough. Suppose I could convince them that holds true for chickens as well?
