Life Goes On . . . Well, No it Doesn’t

It is with a heavy heart that the Chickendads report the loss of many of our chicken friends. While we were out for a few errands on Friday, a stray dog came in and killed 27 birds, including Barbara, Monica and Buffy; 6 young Ameraucana cockerels, 5 Ameraucana pullets, 4 little white cochin boys, a cochin pullet, 2 BLRW hens, Frizzie and 5 of the 6 babies. Several others were injured, including two BLRW roosters, the one remaining BLRW hen (Wendy), and Frizzabella. Frizzie’s remaining baby is trying to make up to Frizzabella, but she does not feel good enough to be a mother to the baby. The baby is going to go live with Auntie Audrey the Bunny Lady and her single lonely chick, so that should help both chicks.

Chickendad managed to get a shot off at the dog, a red female Siberian Husky that we had never seen before. We don’t think he hit it, but hope he did.

Sorry, guys, I just can’t write any more right now.

NOOO!

The grief just doesn't lend itself to words. So sorry. We will all miss the famous Barbara; she was a chicken diva for sure.

This is devastating news. There's really nothing I can think to say. I'm so sorry.

Perhaps we can put together a Barbara memorial. Chicken lovers all over the country will be grieving with you Kathy.
