Are these areas where nesting boxes can be placed?
This is one of four nesting boxes in the coop. It may be obvious, but I replaced the top of the box while cleaning out the coop.
This structure began to fall away from the wall at some point in the past and it was shored up with the brace visible in the lower center of the photo. This room has not only florescent lights, but also a heat lamp. The "doors" on the front of the boxes open and can be latched. The empty area below the boxes may be a simple way to "clean" the boxes since the enclosed portion has a screen as a floor. Does anyone have an idea? Is this an incubator, a special area of chicks, or something else entirely? It is located, not in the main coop, but in the secondary building.

I'm not sure what this is. It is hanging from the ceiling.
Here is the inside of the chicken coop. I have not done any work on it as yet; so this is as I found it. There is an area on both sides of the coop where the chickens can nest high. There are "chicken ladders" to reach this area. In this photo there is the bottom of one of the ladders and access to four of the nesting areas.
