i thought it had gotten hurt too...but it was a bit lethargic yesterday too so i didn't think it was injury related. and he wasn't really gasping for air either
this afternoon i found one of my button quails collapsed on the side of its cage with his head sticking straight up. he was looking a little sick the day before but i thought it was because last night was particularly cold. when i picked him up, the posture of the bird was really unnatural. His...
i see! ok i might be able to get more soon then. I also heard before it could be their diet.
i had them in the same cage before though and they never fought. then i noticed the male becoming more skittish and moved them both into a new cage, and thats when he began to be picked...bloody sometimes.
i have these 2 japanese quail that just wont quit fighting!
Its always the female attacking the "male" (i know the attacker is female because i had to separate them before and it laid eggs. I'm also pretty sure the other one is a male but...). The female only attacks this specific male. when i...
i also just got another question
my male japanese quail started to become a little lethargic in the past 3 days, and the female has been picking on him to the point of a bloody beak i noticed about an hour ago. they were both in a smaller cage with a pair of buttons but just yesterday i moved...
my female
my male
just moved them into a new cage so they're kind of skittish
i've also heard that you can determine the gender of the bird by pushing on the vent of a male so a foam comes out... it tried that just now and it did foam...and i'm pretty sure that the other is a female because...
so i have these 2 japanese quail that i'm totally sure are male and female (breeder said they were too) but none of their eggs are ever fertile. After the hatching period is up, i always crack open my eggs expecting to see some poor dead unhatched chick inside, but there's nothing...only the...
it's on an old washcloth so i don't think it had anything to do with the flooring since it has those "follicles" like on a rough bath towel. still...im sorry to say but it died yesterday. i guess things just happen, but at least I'm learning.
I'm at a loss at what to do here. One of my button quail chicks has a leg that is tucked tightly near its body and is using its "knee" in place of the foot. It wasn't like that yesterday so I think it may be broken. Does anybody know how to help it heal or is there completely nothing I can do?
so i have a new thermometer like this one
http://www.petco.com/product/9425/PETCO-Reptile-Habitat-Thermometer-Gauge.aspx?CoreCat=MM_ReptileSupplies_TemperatureControlHeating
and while it says 100 degrees, the thermometer that came with the incubator says 102... which should i trust?
(and yes its...
