Oh I am so happy to read this all of mine do it and one of them gets this stone cold look on her face and just makes herself tall and stares at whoever is attempting this feat of hierarchy and the one that started it walks away defeated. Its like she's to tough to even engage its really funny!
Thanks everyone for your input! Im sticking to what I believe and you all can do the same obviously. Just as I "don't know" anything about their mental or emotional life neither does anyone else really. We can break it down to the fact that we are human and mammal and they are not so how can we...
Hes ok I took him to the vet and I'm giving him fluids and water and he's more alert and eating and socializing already! Thank goodness for Dr.Dickie in Rogue River Oregon!
Yeah maybe but I guess were both speculating since we can't actually ask them! They weren't sick or cold it was 95 degrees in their little house, and they definitely do burry each other, I have seen this before not just with mine. I think maybe people have a limited understanding of anything...
Sorry it took so long to reply, they were about a week old at the time. We ended up getting 4 more silkies, and they have all bonded really well. For a while the original, remaining chicks would try to burry the silkie that looked most like Forest Beautiful..and then anytime any of them slept...
Lethargic baby chick 3 wks old, pooping white poop in very tiny amounts, barely keeps eyes open. Will get up to eat and cuddle friends. I am force feeding water. Why would this little chick have tiny white lose poops, that are very loud, it sound like Happy(chicks name) has gas or something. I...

Yeah Ive heard of this practice as well I don't really feel comfortable taking an inborn ability from them though, I know this is probably the common thing to do I'm not sure I feel good about it. I'm hoping to build some sort of fence covering....
I have four chicks one sex link 3 bantams and I am having a coop built by a man with a flock of 40 hens so I test his knowledge but I am unsure about the vent location. The design he showed my has the vents the height of the coop from floor to ceiling and they are narrow as the are on both sides...
I am to raising chicks myself, I do know however with baby humans this is very common in the first year of life. What to do with humans is a hot compress and massaging the tear duct area which is near the nose and corner of the eye. This can open the duct. I hope this helps!
