    Too many eggs

The girls in question were hatched from my back yard flock which were true sex links. Even though they are 2nd generation, they seem to be great layers. They are 10 months old now so I'm getting some double yolks too. It's been an odd winter on Long Island,in one day going from 60's...

    Too many eggs

I thought I was mistaken, but I am getting extra eggs. I checked past posts on the subject and found it could be, but is rare. I made sure no one else collected and have had 4 or 5 extra and yesterday 1 short and 1 tiny egg. It's been a strange winter here, but should I be concerned?

    Best layer acting sick

I'm thinking broody. Should I kick her out and collect to break her, as I don't want chicks bred that close. The roo is her son.

    Best layer acting sick

I had a hen die last spring. She was laying huge eggs right before. She sat in her nest two days, looked swollen then died. I have another acting the same way. Both instances I have had a very active roo im the flock for safety and cause they're handsome. Is it possible she's broody. Both hens...

    Quick growers

Has anyone heard of chicks maturing in three and ahalf weeks. I hatched eggs April 1. My boy is crowing and I think that there are more eggs than 1 a day from my prize layers. I'm also getting fertile eggs. The parents are Golden Comets.

    Sexing at 5 weeks

I have tried to I.D. males with the three day wing feather method. Not good results. These are my Golden comets chicks. They hatched April 1st. I think the white ones are cockerals, the red look more like hens. I'm looking at combs and tails, and behavior. Any input would be appreciated.

    Egg laying odd

Last night I had to carry her to the coop. She was standing in one spot with her butt raised up and wouldn't respond to any usual things like calling for a treat or to come in for the night. Today she was dead in a nesting box. She was a loved pet. What is egg bound and if it happens again what...
