    Not sleeping on roosting bars, please help!

    hi how high off the ground are the perches? post a picture of the in side of the coop if you can. I had the same problems with my birds they would not roost. I made the roosts higher with a ramp they could walk up to get to them and still had to put them up on it every night for about 2 weeks...

    first egg

    just got my first egg yesterday there was a broken egg on the coop floor I think she laid it while on the roost. this morning there was a nice brown egg in the nesting box. I have 5 red sex link hens there are about 18 weeks old. this is my first time raising chickens.

    Roost bar design??

    like some one said 2x4 with the 4 side up is the way to go it is better for there feet. they don't have to grasp it they can just sit and cover there feet with there feathers when it gets cold so they don't get frostbite on there toes.
