    Baby begging behavior

Hi! We bought 6 chicks yesterday from Rural King. They only had 4 of the breed we wanted left, but because they have a 6-chick min purchase I got 2 mystery bantams in with them. Last night, my husband and I were kept up all night by the two banties "begging" - the technical term for crying...

Love some of these ideas! My babies are bored already and this winter will be a long one. They got spoiled from all the interaction in the petting farm this fall and this sudden cold has them with "run fever" already.

    Molting Ameraucana

My americauna hens are now molting as well. Tis the season! :) They don't lay when they are in their heavy molt pattern, but it's only temporary.

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Bargersville here! We raised a flock of Rhode Island Red/Plymouth Rocks last year but every last one of them turned out to be the meanest darned roosters and we got rid of them. We just ran across freshly orphaned Black Duck eggs (trust me, mama is gone) and we are incubating those. Seven...

    The boys club

Since we unintentionally ended up with a flock of 6 roosters, we had to make a decision of what to do with them. I tried to sell them and almost had a buyer, but we had no luck. We decided that we were just going to slaughter them. Hubs was pretty set on doing it sooner than later. They...

Is my Rhode Island Red a rooster or hen?

I'm not a chicken expert by any means, but he looks like a hen. Good luck figuring this one out!

I think my hens are roosters...

Ok, so now that we've essentially determined that they are all male.. what in the heck am I going to do now? Even though the head honcho, Falconerry, is a butthead and protects his flock and bites us every time we come near we still love them. However, flock of roosters is not something nature...

Every last one was yellow. They all had their first feathers in at the tips of their wings, brown.
