Have been raising chickens for many years, hoping to start showing and breeding.
Hello, my name is Arik. I have grown up around and raised chickens my entire life. It started with a mixed-bag flock of birds when I was a toddler. After a long spell without any poultry, we got 6 Golden Comet "pullets" at the local Tractor Supply just for a few eggs. One of those 6 turned out to be a rooster, who was my joy. This little flock soon taught me that chickens are much, much more than just egg-machines. I learned that they are complex, intelligent, emotional beings capable of returning the love I developed for them. Our flock evolved from 6 comets, to comets and some mixes, to comets, mixes, and bantams, to just bantams as the standard birds aged and passed, and now we have a new generation of chickens, a total mix of breeds again. It started with eggs, and now it's friendship and admiration, maybe a bit of an obsession. It's the best obsession I've ever had, and has become a passion.

In loving memory of Klondike, my golden comet rooster, and my first chicken. He taught me that roosters do not deserve the reputation they have, and that a chicken can truly be a man's best friend.
