The guy ended up having to put the bull down the morning they were supposed to be delivered to me, he said it looked like he was probably grazing under the fence and got struck by lightning, but he couldn't be sure and I decided not go go thru with the sale to be safe.
Thank you all for your...
Thank you all!
Good pasture may be a big part of the problem, we're in Texas where there's a drought and currently everything is either dried up or on fire.
More well fed and smoother coats. I feel like they're a little rough looking. Am I judging too harshly?
The current plan is wormer, pasture, a protein tub, and maybe some hay depending on how bad of shape the pasture is in.
Or offer helpful suggestions on improving their body condition once they're delivered?
There's a Jersey pair, "horned Hereford" bull calf (I thought Herefords were polled? but don't really care too much), 6 unknown breed beef heifers, and 2 Longhorn beef crosses.
She survived and moved back outside! I got a poult to replace her in the event that she croaked or had to be put down and she has adopted it. Most of her feathers are growing back but there is a small spot where nothing is growing.
For the first week after she went back outdoors I kept half...
Thank you, she will be at the regular vet Monday morning and I would like to wait and see what they say before euthanizing.
She has eaten some now, she's also done at least 2 solid poos and 3 more runny ones.
Have been giving her half an aspirin and she's stood up for a bit twice.
She's made it through the night, gave another 250 mg of amoxicillin and coated with more neosporin. Syringed some electrolytes in but she's not showing any appetite, going to try scrambled eggs here in a little bit.
Also gave half a crushed up aspirin
The avian vet is closed and with no...
After some very light probing it doesn't seem like it goes all the way thru, but would if there was just a tiny bit of pressure. I coated her with half a tube of neosporin, if i run out of that will Vaseline work? She's still breathing heavily and can barely stand but tried to perch on the edge...
Thank you, I went ahead and gave some amoxicillen (sp?) and about 3 mL of electrolytes, which upset her enough to try to fight, but at least she got it down without inhaling. She does seem out of it. Sprayed her down with some more vetericyn in hopes that it will do some good.
It looks like the...
Thank you all for your help and responses! She's still holding on, not trying to move around. Currently in a box with a towel around it. Going to see if I can find a vet to help her in the morning. If not, will antibiotics help, which one, and how best to administer?
