Hi Markyboy. Last season just gone we decided to see if they would do better on their own this time. We had 2 new females so thought the chances of the eggs being fertilised and viable were higher, we also were interested to observe the females rolling the eggs into a pile so were optimistic...
Hello everyone,
I have 2 female golden pheasants and lately (as in, in the last few days) one of them has started being very vocal. They are usually pretty much silent, however now she's doing a 'chirp chirp PEEEPPP' sort of call. Almost like singing. It's just past the middle of summer here...
Thanks for the chart, I've seen that one before. It's been 28 days now. I've sort of given up hope. We did the float test and they sank as well. So not looking promising :(
Thanks guys, the problem is I can't get it lower. It's proving very hard! The humidity in the air is 60% as it is here in NZ and then in the incubator it seems to get a bit higher :(
None of them hatched, we're going to have a little funeral and bury them all. Maybe they are just too inbred...
Hello everyone.
I have my first batch of 8 Golden Pheasant eggs in an incubator. I've been turning them twice a day, keeping the humidity around 70% and the temperature at 37.5 and in about 2 hours it's been 25 days and there is still no sign of hatching!! I'm starting to really worry that...

Thanks for all the advice. We're on day 25 now and no sign of hatching, although when we candled they were all fertilised and now all you see is a dark shadow and even a head like shape near the bottom. Any advice on how long it could take? When we should give up? What signs can we look for...
Hi
I'm hoping someone can help by answering a couple of really basic questions. We've had 3 golden pheasants for a year now (2 girls and a guy), and we've just seen our first eggs in the aviary. It's very exciting, but we're very lost. I've read as many articles as I can find online, but they...
Hi there. My aviary for 3 golden pheasants is 9' wide by 14' long and just over 6' high, so a little bigger than yours. However I find they have heaps of space and spend most of their time on the perches anyway and use only about half the floor space. So I'd say if you were just putting in 2...
Hi there, I have golden pheasants. You can tell straight away from their eye colour. The males always have yellow eyes and the females dark brown. Hope this helps :-)
Hi all, looking for something to keep the grass short in my aviary and thought of a rabbit. I have 3 golden pheasants, they spend a lot of time roosting and not on the ground. Would a rabbit be ok in the aviary if it had it's own hutch too? Any advice would be great.
Thanks Patty, do you think a rabbit would be a bad idea? I was hoping two silkies would be ok, but you think they'd have too many diseases? I don't plan on getting anymore pheasants, it wouldn't be fair on them as my aviary is 3 metres by 4.5 metres.
Thanks for your help!
Hello,
I have a male golden pheasant and 2 females in an aviary about 3 metres by 5 metres and I would like to put either a rabbit or 2 little chickens in there with them.
Does anyone know if they can co-habitate with a rabbit or with 2 small chickens? Any advice would be much appreciated...
