Hello everyone,

I have 2 female golden pheasants and lately (as in, in the last few days) one of them has started being very vocal. They are usually pretty much silent, however now she's doing a 'chirp chirp PEEEPPP' sort of call. Almost like singing. It's just past the middle of summer here in NZ, does anyone have any idea why she is doing that?

Looking forward to any advice or anecdotes!

They do that just like any other bird. All creatures have some sort of communication and that is theirs. Only be worried when they start screeching that means a boy! ;)
