Hey, pontoosuc - That's weird! I wonder what's up? We too have a big coop and big fenced yard with good food. 1 Roo but he doesn't seem to be interested in them and he only "services" the females that will squat for him. He's a very non-aggressive Roo. We are clueless. We do have an extra pen...
Noticed one of our favorite Ameraucanas (Chrystal) had something going on with her back feathers. It's like there is a bunch of little fuzzy feathers coming in and we noticed her sister is looking that way too. What's going on? Is it because it's getting colder? We are new to this chicken...
We have 3 Buttercups and all 3 look like this one. When they were younger they seemed to be on the bottom of the pecking order but I have not seen anyone pecking them lately, but they do not get their feathers back. Someone was here and wondered if it was mites. (Yikes!) We checked on line to...
Everyone seems to be in agreement that your first chick is an EE but she looks alot like my female Wellsummer. I have an Ameracana (which I think some call an EE) that does look just like this also but she has muffs. She lays green eggs as does our grey Ameracana, also with muffs.
We got this female in a batch of males free for buying feed. Out of the 5 males 3 were females! Someone was over the other day and said she's a partridge cochin. Do you agree? She's full sized and one of the biggest birds we have. Thanks for you help! We'd like a few more of this type.
We have this nice female that lays brown eggs and is an excellent mother. We got her in a group marked "rainbow" which later we found was the name the hatcheries give to odds and ends they want to get rid of. Does anyone know what she is? Thanks!
