They basically live in a backyard lot and they and our chickens wont let anything grow. Here is a picture of the hay. Looks like she is eating but shes just picking every grain out.
I have a 2 year old female goat with scours since about 24 hours ago. She is newly purchased and previously lived on only browse or forage plants. I have been feeding her grain and I think i overfed her. I checked her temperature and it is normal at about 102.8 and I gave her homemade...
We recently got three new goats and I have never kept goats in Pakistan where I live. I kept them in America where they basically just lived off the land and we gave them hay and a little feed. The problem is where I live there is hardly and plants...it is a dry dusty rocky mountainous region...
Update: the male Cochin we did the surgery on is no longer limping. His foot is still bandaged and I will leave it for 48 hours before opening it but he is walking totally normal and much more active today. We are going to do a flock foot check and some epsom salt soak for any with small spots...
Well my husband is a doctor and I am a trauma nurse so it was like a proper human surgery lol. I have always been a prepper so I had all the supplies on hand. We considered giving him a lidocaine injection block but I couldn't find online the locationof chicken feet nerves lol Then we read...
I recently purchased a white heavy cochin pair and they both have feet problems. They were caged in a very dirty place where I bought them from. The mape has been limping for days. My husband is a doctor so we decided to address it ourselves. We found a black circle shaped scab on the pad of his...
I have 16 eggs under an Aseel broody and half of them are Wheaton Marans x Buff cochin mix and other half are Wheaton Marans x mixed rooster mix. Here is the first chick. He is from the Buff Cochin and he is so much bigger than I expected. But he/she is so cute . He pipped sometime in the...
I have a hen with mites but where I live no treatment specific for chickens is available. I have some general insect killer dust that is 5% permetherin. Can I use this on the chicken?
Long story short we had a chicken who kept laying soft shelled eggs despite our efforts and eventually she stopped laying and we felt a big egg stuck inside her. As she was originally purchased as a meat bird and she wasn't looking so good so we slaughtered her and couldn't believe what we found...
Yes she has been with a rooster constantly. The rooster she was with died. We brought another one and I seen them mating (with her vent up) correctly the same day. I hope that makes sense i mean she was like accepting.
My hen laid her first egg on April 2nd and has been laying one almost daily since then but not gone broody. Now I have 6 eggs. How long can I keep them? For example that first egg was laid 7 days ago for how much longer is it good?
We have had a rough time trying to start raising chickens here:barnie. Today we found a buff cochin Cockerell and he looks very healthy. When I got him home and first let him out his comb was bright red as in the first picture below.... within one hour his comb has this dark tint to the edges...
