    Ocular Marek's symptoms

She had the foam in her eyes for just that one minute, it was gone, and it hasn't returned. Mysterious chicken.

    Ocular Marek's symptoms

Follow up symptom. Just now, she had a little bit of foam in the corners of her eyes. Otherwise, a happy chicken with no swelling, gasping, or rattling. Walking perfectly normal. Eating, drinking, pooping. I can't find anything (yet) that shows foaming eyes with Marek's. Any ideas?

    Ocular Marek's symptoms

So now my follow up question is: If this is ocular mareks, can it present itself in a different way in the other chickens? Such as the paralysis and tumors? Or is it a specific strain of mareks that is solely ocular? We are keeping a close watch on the other chickens for anything odd.

    Ocular Marek's symptoms

I hope these pictures are clear enough. It's hard to get a picture of a moving chicken. There is no change today. She is eating and drinking fine and has good body language. She's walking with a bit of shyness, I suppose because she can't see well. She appears to be a normal, healthy...

HELP! Duck's wing hanging and skin ripped off!

I had a chicken with a huge ripped open wound down her side (and several smaller rips). We suspected a hawk attack. It was all the way through the skin, several inches long, and spread open wide. Not good. In our case, we just packed the wound with Neosporin (without the pain relief)...

    Ocular Marek's symptoms

I've been searching through old threads and information pages on this site about Ocular Marek's, and have learned a lot but haven't found out this bit of information yet. I have an Easter Egger who is about 4 years old who is suddenly going blind. Both of her pupils have constricted and are...

    Help!!! Chicken layed egg duct??

It's hard to tell from my phone, but it looks like a simple egg fart (an egg without a shell forming around it). My chickens have done this from time to time. Is that a yolk and chalaza?

Silkie sitting on imaginary eggs - now I've put a day old chick under her

We had a similar experience with our Silkie. She goes broody every couple of months, and most of the time we break her quickly in her very own "broody-breaking-box" that we keep set up just for her in the garage. A couple of times we let her hatch eggs, and one time we let her sit on eggs...

Mystery Bantam: What breed is this?

Interesting! I don't think I stumbled upon those pictures in my random search for bantams. I will look that up.

Mystery Bantam: What breed is this?

It is now 9 weeks old. What breed is this? And is it a rooster? It sure is red for 9 weeks of age, so I'm really sure it's a rooster, but I've never had a bantam (besides silkie) before. I've read that they mature more slowly, then I've read that they mature faster. I got this bantam...

Help! How to keep injured hen calm and quiet

Thanks! I'm hoping that moving her to the back bedroom will help, along with the blanket. She is not bleeding, so it is good to hear that it's okay that she is moving some. My other chickens that were inside loved the extra tlc and being inside. This one acts like it's a prison...

Help! How to keep injured hen calm and quiet

I need help in keeping an injured hen quiet and still. I posted yesterday to get advice on treating some bad gashes on a hen that go through to the muscle and fat. We are treating her (so far, so good), but now my problem is keeping her calm and quiet. She thinks she is fine and acts like...
