It is now 9 weeks old. What breed is this? And is it a rooster?
It sure is red for 9 weeks of age, so I'm really sure it's a rooster, but I've never had a bantam (besides silkie) before. I've read that they mature more slowly, then I've read that they mature faster.
I got this bantam chicken at Rural King. It was in a bin labeled simply "bantam." We picked it because we wanted an Easter Egger as it had that very typical chipmunk look to it as a tiny chick. Now that it's older, I'm not sure what it is. I've look all through Google images and through all the online breeders, but I haven't found anything that looks like this one yet. All of our older hen Easter Eggers have a "bubble gum" comb, or what I believe is a rose or pea comb. This one obviously has an upright comb. Also, the leg color isn't greenish gray like my other eggers.
