    BCM x CCL ?

Thanks Ridgerunner and Junebuggena!! What great info! Now, I am going to check my chicks a bit closer with a better informed eye. :) I am fascinated by all of this --- and love it. I sure hope that black chick w/ crest is a pullet! I think she'll be a beaut. Thanks, again, for taking the time to...

    BCM x CCL ?

Thank you so much! I'm really interested in learning more about the genetics. I'm definitely going to do more reading. One more question- or clarification, please. Are you saying that if these have a barring pattern that they are most likely cockerels? The feathers are nice and rounded, so I...

    BCM x CCL ?

Thank you so much! It will be like Christmas waiting and hoping, I suppose. :) These are showing barring on the feathers and pretty little crests already. One, though, is black with a beautiful crest. I do hope it is a pullet! My CCL girls lay beautiful blue eggs. The BCM did hatch from a...

    BCM x CCL ?

Hi! I have crossed a Blue French Copper Marans Roo with pretty Crested Cream Legbar hens. Will my hens look like the female, crested and colored? I'd love to know the genetics of this cross to know what to expect-- and to, hopefully, sex as soon as possible. I'm also curious as to what egg...

Crested Cream Legbar Hen w/ Blue FC Marans Roo?

I crossed my Crested Cream Legbar Hen with my beautiful Blue French Copper Marans Roo. Can anyone tell me what I might expect of chicks? I suppose that any hens would be olive egg layers. Correct? Will I be able to sex at hatching? I am really curious. Thanks for any responses and help!

    Clearing Condensation from Incubator Window?

They hatched yesterday, so not quite 24 hours yet. We live in South AL and it is raining today, so our humidity is high. I removed some last time I hatched (my first one), but none were pipped. Will the pipped chicks be okay? Thank you SOOO much!

    Clearing Condensation from Incubator Window?

I am using the Farm Innovators Pro Series 4250 incubator for this hatch. I set 41 eggs (full 'bator) and on day 18, it appeared that 37 were viable. Approximate 15 chicks have hatched (this is day 21) and several more are pipped. But, the condensation is heavy on the viewing window. My temp is...

Anyone Use the Pro Series 4250 Incubator by Farmers Innovators? Help!

My first hatch appx. 4 months ago was very successful, but I had borrowed an older model incubator from a friend. I purchased the Farmers Innovators Pro Series 4250 because it was a circulating air incubator w/ egg turner. I have had it on for about 8 hours now, and the temperature reading seems...

    1st Time Hatching- Advice Please

Thank you for the advice! I quickly moved the first 2 chicks and added wet paper towels to keep the humidity high. Since, I moved the others doing the same. I have 24 chicks now and 5 eggs in the 'bator (3 of which have already pipped). I set 31 eggs, so I am super pleased with my first...

    Which Roo to Keep

Well, I was trying to remember. I believe blue x blue gives some splash, black, and blues. Black x blue yields 100% blues. They are evenly temperamented. I'd love to have some splash hens, I think.
