I live in Massillon OH and I have been trying to find out our city laws with chickens. right now I have 5 girls in our backyard, and they are probably not allowed to be there but no one cares lol. We are moving (but still within the same city) and I want to make a permanent, nice coop for them...
I've been sick for several days, so my husband has been gathering eggs, and doing the food & water. When i went out today, my white hen was back to normal! Still haven't gotten an egg from her, but she looks so much warmer now! Thanks everyone!
So I noticed a small bare spot on her chest the other day, then it seemed like all of a sudden, poor thing is about bare!
There are white feathers all over the place, I have heard about mites? Maybe just a bad molt? I feel bad for her, it has been so cold :( She hasn't laid and egg in over a...
So last Tuesday (the 14th) I had a hen go broody (thanks to you all here I figured out what she was doing). I decided that since I had a friend with a rooster I would get some fertilized eggs. She sat on them no problem till Sunday (the 27th) when we decided to move her, I made her her own space...
thanks for all your help, we finally got her a smaller spot within the coop for just her and her five eggs, and now she is not sitting on them! First time in six days! Is there a way to see if there are babies in there?! Hmm!
Thanks!! It is really hot here today (83!) but by Saturday it will be like 60, so goes Ohio weather. I have a friend who has a rooster so she is getting us some fertilized eggs, should be fun! I have never done this before (we bought ours as chicks from Tractor Supply). I will read through the...
I have one that has been broody (just learned that is what it is called) for two days, if I wait 19 more she should be done? I never see her get up, but she has everyone's (all six) eggs under her lol. I've just been pushing her off each day. I even put treats in the pen and she didn't come out!
We got the waterer and food worked out! YEAH!! :)
I think this will hold enough food for 4-6 days
We were worried about the nipple water system, but they had the hang of it quick!!
