How were you able to tell as chicks the Bielefelder vs the CCL and were you right? Have both coming from a hatchery this week and not finding any posts about how to tell these 2 autosexing breeds apart in any way as day olds.
I found these were OK if you used them for short periods of time. leavign them on too long doesnt let their feet or the scabs breathe to heal so we found they were ok as long as we were taking them off for awhile each day and separating them. booties also didnt work , in the end we used pool...
Hello all, hoping for some insight or experience here.
We have a 1 year old Swedish Black female duck that we obtained with another girl from a trusted source on June 12th.
on June 24th in the AM she presented with laboured breathing and open mouth panting, she seemed unable to lay down or...
We’re treating bumblefoot now and can’t get the shoes in time so this is what we’re using . They’re for dogs at the pet store and cost 20$ for a 12 pack and come in different sizes. Foot underneath is wrapped etc and we use waterproof tape to stick these to the ankle
I can’t get the booties in time for when I need them plus I have a large flock and several ducks to treat. We’re using these as shown in pics. They are rubber dog booties kind of like a big rubber balloon. They come in different sizes and we’re like 20$ for a 12 pack (instead of 25-40$ per...
He’s good now(yes she’s a he lol) still doesn’t make much noise but has caught up to the flock in growth etc. I’m still not sure if it was an infection, a fungus or a lodged onject that damaged his voice . It seems he will never be loud either way

Update a few weeks later. Harley pulled through and is doing well though she never really got her voice back. Not sure if it was a fungus that got her vocal chords or if she swallowed something that passed. She’s back with the flock now after isolation and antibiotics and seems to be thriving...
She's now eating and drinking well every few hours, breathing "seems" to have returned to normal (no longer open mouth, laboured or gurgling). Her poop has already returned to normal other than being dark and a bit muddy in consistency today (looks normal when she goes in the water). her voice...
Hello and thanks for having me, I’ve been reading the forums here for months and have found it very helpful in setting up for our first flock.
I live in Canada and we’re currently brooding 12 chickens, 6 Guineas and 8 ducks for the first time. We’ve so far built a brooder in our coop ...
Hello , I have a 4 week old Welsh Harlequin (Harley) and 3 days ago she sounded like she was losing her voice. We read that this can happen when they are getting their quack and she was acting fine otherwise so we didn’t think anything else of it.
The next day she had completely lost her...
