Dear BYC,
As crazy and sad as it seems, i seem to have a problem with raising chickens. Back in June i Picked 3 eggs at random out of my hen house, on like june 30th they hatched within 4 days of each other, two were a buff orphington mix, and the last was a rhode island. The rhode island needed...
Hi BYC,
One of my chicks has just hatched while i was sleeping, I heard peeping when i woke up, and checked on him/her, it was doing fine. just starting to fluff up a little bit. But i notice shes sort of hopping, and sitting afterwards, instaed of walking. do they normally do that? or does it...
Dear BYC,
I am getting back into the chickens, and are currently in about the 8th day of incubation. the incubator i have is designed to hold the eggs in an upright position. but i like to incubate them on there side, so its more like how they are in nature. is this ok? thank you very much...

just a minute. :)
when the chicks are born, they may be hyper, usually they just want to br warm, and sleeping. I would put him in his heated cage, about 90-95 degrees. before their born, they gain the ni=utrients of the yoke sack, which can feed them up to 3 days. so give him his heat source...
In my experience, i leave it up to nature, i have never introduced any un natural humidity, i leave it up to nature, and have always had a good 90% hatch rate. i even turn the eggs by hand. But that's my opinion my humidity is usually between 56% and 86% humidity, which is just the humidity it...
Dear BYC,
I have recently decided to get back into the chicken raising for the spring of 2013. I usually raise rabbits, then i missed the simplicity of chickens.
Quite honestly, the chickens got me back into the business. i came into my coop, and found three of my chickens seriously...
