I was checking my ducks eggs this evening and noticed one had a very faint hairline crack going around it. I am not positive how old the eggs are but look pretty far along. I’m guessing day 23. Could the baby survive the crack?
Mama duck has been sitting on the egg since about June 5th. She had two but got rid of the other egg. I found it busted in middle of pen and was clearly bad. Smelled rancid or something. So she’s been sitting on just the one the last 4 days. I’m concerned this one has gone bad too. Please any help.
Will mama duck know when an egg is bad? This morning she took one of her eggs and crushed it and stuck it in her water dish. It didn’t smell good. Smelled rancid. Please help I want to make sure she won’t do the same to her other egg or if I should pull and incubate.
My duck decided to start sitting and I didn't notice at first she had a hidden nest. She had some of her eggs but mostly my other ducks unfertilized eggs. So I took all the unfertilized and left her with her two which is in now constantly sitting. I am curious if these eggs look correct. I know...
Hi I was wondering if I could get some advice on bumblefoot. My duck went and saw vet and we are treating him for bumblefoot. I have two other ducks that have it as well. She showed me this great way to wrap their feet and use a piece of pool noodle under their foot for cushion around their bump...
Well right now my Swedish grey(Thelma) is the one laying then my Cayuga(Louise) sits on them. Barely is Thelma sitting. She’s being semi protective because if I get near the pen she walks over and stands next to Louise sitting. Louise is not laying any eggs at all.
If I only let her have three eggs and everyday take the extra will she eventually stay with the and sit to hatch only three or will she keep laying until she’s collected what she wants?
I have two females that absolutely love each other. They spend every waking moment together. Eat together bathe together everything. One of my ducks has made a nest and is sitting on 4 eggs. Weird thing is both girls take turns sitting on these eggs. The eggs belong to only one of my ducks. Do...
Yea my thoughts were too they didn’t look good either. Two have more veining but there’s a lot of darkness. Also looks like blood inside but not sure. I’m going to still keep them in there. If they aren’t good I figure doesn’t hurt keeping them in longer to see.
Thank you so much for you help. Very true I have nothing to loose to at least know. And then if nothing happens at least I can know I tried everything I could for the eggs. Whats a good temp for heat and humidity I need to have it at? I will get the eggs in there this evening after work. When do...
I don’t have any others to compare too. Now if she was sitting on them and the embryo started to grow then she stopped but there’s still some sorta life would they really continue to grow again being put in heat?
I have an incubator but haven’t used it before for poultry eggs. Used it for...
