Well, that's the language on the Troy animal permit anyway! But if u r in Troy I think you have a good case. They don't prevent any animals by ordinance but they evaluate each application individually. I have to get an inspection and can tell you all what they look for. Also anyone need want a...
Yup heard that too (re ants) and definitely see them on peonies every year. Try this: make a simple syrup ie sugar water and brush it on. That should attract ants and open up the buds.
love the eye analogy. never thought of it that way. Not sure it applies to birds of prey but I get it as far as differentiating a goat from say a racoon.
So side note... is the racoon thread the chicken guy hangout? ;-)
heh just sayin
ok.
So I'm on day 7 with 4 eggs and added 1 more yesterday under my brooder. HOWEVER, a day ago, I saw another hen in the same spot - the two of them kind of crowding each other. The "new" one had shown some broody signs but it never lasted more than a day.
As of last night, the new broody miss...
Is it normal for my flock to produce less once a hen goes broody? I went from 12 to about 7 as soon as one went broody on me. I was expecting she would stop laying as frequently but not the others.

Thank you!
Didn't know about the where am I. Still a few posts from the 20 needed for the auction.
Did just do a craigslist ad. I'm in a suburban area so I worry that others may be in the same predicament. We had a good run with 2 roos until recently. Didn't realize that I could have chickens...
Hello all. I'm in Troy Michigan. Have 3 coops for one dozen hens and one rooster. A few ISA Reds, some Ameracaunas, a barred rock and a Silkie Ameracauna rooster. Yup three coops for a dozen birds. They have two summer homes.. Living large on an acre and free roaming.
I've been an observer on...
Good idea on the urine - although I'm sure the neighbors will think i"m even bat crazier than before.
my worry is that I found one IN the coop. I'm talking a 5x5 coop - I walked in and we were there mano a mano. It was a weird showdown. He made a run for it, I put my boot on him and would have...
