I can't buy a different roo, or have 2 different colors. I live in a neighborhood and only have 1 small coop. I have a NICE buff roo and hen then the other colors that are in there together. I am hoping to hatch a few, but probably not many. Also, if the rooster is way too loud then he will...
Will I just get a random off color out of a buff/blue or buff/black pairing, or will I get an actual color? I have a buff roo (maybe, still not sure) in with a 2 black, 1 blue, and 1 buff hens.

Ok, I have some silkie questions as well, and this seems like a good post to ask them in. My silkies are 6 months old. What are signs of mites, what should I look for? Also, how do I treat mites if/when they get them? I live in western Wa and our winters usually don't go below 25 degrees...
I still have my 5 month old silkies on chick feed, but I ran out of feed and I am going to go pick some up. Should I keep them on chick feed for longer or start them on layer feed since they are 5 mo?
Thanks!
Amy
I have a buff silkie roo that need a flock. He is about 4 months old and is gorgeous (although he is in the middle of molting)! He has a great beard and crest and great feathering on his feet. I was hoping to show him when he got a little older, but he crows and we live in a neighborhood, so the...
I have:
Buff crossbeak roo - was Silkie Scissorbeak, now Edward Scissorbeak
Buff roo - was Lafawnda, started crowing, now Lafawnzo
Buff something (not sure on gender yet, my friend named him/her) - Charlie
Buff hen - Chocolate
Black hen - Bach
Blue/black hen - Chickovsky
Black hen - Puff
Aside from the color problems (which I am hoping will molt off) how do they look? Body type, feathering, comb on the boy, crests, etc? I am new to chickens and these are my first ones.

Yay, some responses They haven't molted yet, and the lady had them seperated by color when I picked up my hatching eggs, so I am hoping a good molt will take care of any color problems. But Charlie is a very light buff, is that a problem? But they do look different depending on the lighting...
I have 3 buff silkies that I would like to get some outside knowledgeable opinions on. I would like to maybe start a small buff breeding program, do these silkies look good enough to start with? Also, is it asking for problems showing un-vaccinated chickens? They are around 12-14 weeks (I...
His neck is WAY worse today, he is keeping his head upside down. I brought him inside and I have him in a box. I have been feeding him yogurt and just ran to the store. I forgot which vitamins to get except for the polyvisol and I just gave him so drops. What about a multivitamin that...
What type of vitamins should I get to give him? Are there special fowl/bird vitamins or baby vitamins? I will pick some up tomorrow if he isn't doing better.
