Well, I took away the one egg she had kicked out of the nest, She had stopped laying on both of them anyway. Now she has laid another egg and I believe she's getting ready to lay a fourth. lol This is getting silly.
Haaa! Oh my, Hokum! That was an industrious pigeon to have flown that far home! lol Well, I had my doubts that mine would as she doesn't seem to like me that much. She smacks my hand when I stick it in the cage to clean it and add food. However, she does coo at me sometimes as well.
That's a...
Thanks lightchick and briancady! Now "Mr" Duckworth has laid a couple infertile eggs so I likely won't release her till she realizes there are no chicks hatching.
Hi, I was about to release a wild pigeon who I had taken in last October/2013 (as she was injured) but now she has laid 2 eggs. I know they are infertile but she is settled in now keeping them warm. And to think I thought she was a he and have been calling it Jack all winter. lol Anyway, should...
I took in an injured pigeon last October approx.. He had a slightly hurt wing but now it's healed so I will be releasing him as soon as it's warm enough. My thought was to take him out to a grain elevator that belongs to friends of ours and let him go where he'll have plenty of friends. They say...
Accidentally found this page that has neat clothing that pigeon fanciers might like. They only ship within the USA though.

Oops, forgot to ask-So, it doesn't matter if I get another pigeon if it's male or female? I mean if it turned out to be 2 males could they fight (if they're not gay lol )?
ha! Well, he could be gay but not much chance being a practicing gay or straight pigeon while he's alone! I just hope he doesn't becoming attracted to humans. lol Thanks Hokum!
Ok, thanks Hokum Coco! I think mine is male then as he most resembles that one in the video and your picture. He puffs up like that too. Plus the green feathers around his neck are quite bright like the one in the picture.
Oh, so he won't sleep in the nest box? He'll sleep on the roosting shelf? I didn't realize that. Well, then he really doesn't need a nesting box since he's alone, eh?
"POOP BOARDS are the "BEST" addition yet. Handles well over ½ of the poop in my set up keeps ammonia smell in check 3½" below roost excellent for catching eggs laid through the night (roost are in cups for easier removal and cleaning). I recently friction fit a piece of vinyl flooring over my...
The injured pigeon I just took in Oct 31/13 is doing well and it's wing seems to be improving. I don't know if it's male or female and would like to know as if he sticks around I'd like to get another one to keep it company. Does it matter if I have 2 males or 2 females? Also, if I end up with a...
