Not near as exciting as an emu hatching, but...we have three chicks hatched plus 1 zipped, and 7 or 8 pipped. The one that hatched last night is fluffy and cheeping away waiting for his (or her) siblings to join him in the brooder box. Yeah, youth hunters do not have to buy a license. I understand if someone is trying to feed their family, but killing just for the sake of killing isn't right or fair to the wildlife or other hunters, for that matter.- arcountrychick

We had one easter egger hen for several years and it was always a treat to find a blue egg. If I had more room in the coop I would definitely get some blue egg layers or olive eggers. And congrats on the new chicks! They're too dang cute!- arcountrychick

I took my daughter hunting for the first time when she was 5. It was a great lesson on patience...for both of us! I think AGFC was having issues with people harvesting animals during youth hunts and checking them under the name of toddlers. Mostly wyandottes. Silver laced, gold laced, blue. Oh, and a few barred rocks. We mostly focus on raising wyandottes. The barred rocks are to shore up our layer flock.
