Hey everybody!

Anyone have eggs in the incubator already?

I think there are a few of us hatching something. But waiting for eggs for the Hatch A Long. Woot!

I have NN's and Silkies in there right now. :)

Nice! What breed(s)?

Mostly wyandottes. Silver laced, gold laced, blue. Oh, and a few barred rocks.

We mostly focus on raising wyandottes. The barred rocks are to shore up our layer flock. And I have to brag a little: My (almost) 11 year old daughter sells eggs to help pay for feed and more chicks! She's such a big help--she gathers eggs and fills feeders and waterers with very little assistance from me. She gets up early on Saturdays so I can take her to the local hangout to sell eggs. She's a cool kid!

OK here is a question. I am thinking of setting some quail eggs along with the chicken eggs for the hatchalong. Some people like to set them at the same time and have them hatch early before lockdown. Some people like to delay and have them hatch with the chickens during lockdown. What are the pros and cons of these systems?

It is taking all my willpower to wait a couple more days to candle again, but I told myself this hatch I would candle on 7, 14 and 18 only. Trying not to handle them too much or have them out of the 'bator too much and since I'm turning by hand, I thought they probably have more than enough exposure to the cool air of the room the 'bator is in. Please Wednesday, come quickly, I want to see how they are progressing!
