A good thing to do is have a few feed and water stations, in and out of the coop, the sex link can't guard them all at once :) Also, you could put things in the run that the other chickens can hide behind when they want to get away. Everyone will all get along eventually!

I currently have a six week old chick in the house with me right now (momma abandoned the nest to be with the other chicks while she was still pipped). So, i brought her inside and helped her hatch out, and by the time she was strong enough to be with the other chicks, momma wanted nothing to do...

Is she free ranged? If she is she could already be laying, just have a hidden best somewhere :)

I don't personally own the doves but my sister does, but i am very interested in them! So, momma dove is all white and daddy dove is brown and white. They had a baby... and he/she is black! They've had babies in the past and they all turned out to be brown with the typical black ring around...

So tonight I was out candling eggs that are under my broody hen Pollux. And I saw a few teeny little bugs crawling around on the eggs. So my question is; how do I go about treating her. I know I have to put Sevin dust on her but how should I go about it with the eggs? Do I dust them too? Just...

I'm from VT also and having all the open space in the floor there is going to be way too drafty for your chickens when the winter comes
