This is her 2nd time with chicks, and she's always taken them out fairly quickly, I'd honestly never gave it much thought lol my last two broody took chicks out on the 2nd day too. We did discover that one egg had stopped developing very early on while the other chick just didn't seem to make it...
I'm wondering if there's anything I can do. We had barnyard mix eggs given to our orpington. Two hatched yesterday and two more by this morning (day 21). Mama has now taken her 4 babies outside and left the two remaining eggs. There's no cracks or pips and I can't hear anything from them, but...
I do love my GL wyandotte, she is incredibly friendly and loves to be held. But after my RIR passed she moved to top spot in the pecking order and is a bit of a bully to the others, and she's my roosters favorite, so she does and takes whatever she wants 🙄
Based purely off temperament of the many breeds I've had, I would choose a Buff orpington, Barred rock, Brahma, and an ISA. We have kids and these were always our friendliest and well mannered to each other. The kids could carry them around and they'd sit in your lap, or on your shoulder 😂
There was definitely no hidden eggs. I did a complete clean out of the coop after my other Marans passed. Digit, the hen responsible for the eggs, had been laying everyday since I cleaned the coop out. She didn't lay an egg yesterday after found the 2 the previous day, but I also collected an...
She layed that morning, and never had any signs of any issues. Went about her usual day and never made it back to the coop. I found her the next day in the grass with no signs as to why she passed
Most of my girls lay cream-light/tan eggs and one olive egger. We're not sure how our other girl passed. Earlier in the day she had layed her egg and was roaming the yard with the rest of the flock, when I went to lock them up at night I noticed she wasn't there, and honestly thought a predator...
Is it possible for a hen to lay 2 eggs in one day? It's got to be, right? I have a Marans that is a year old, I've gotten 2 dark chocolate eggs today and 1 yesterday. She's my only dark brown layer after my other Marans unexpectedly passed a week ago. The eggs were layed in two different spots...
I've only ever had one Wyandotte but she is at the top of the order after my RIR passed, she is also one of my friendliest birds. You can hold her, and she'll hop onto your lap or shoulder. She is also a snack thief 😆
Update: I just went to check on my EE, when I found her she looked like she was struggling to breathe and had like mucus in her mouth? I cleared it out and within 3 minutes she started flailing and passed in my arms😞 I checked her over and found no mites on her anywhere, does anyone know what...
I need advice on how to get rid of these mites! I live in an area that is consistently below freezing, it was -20 all last week and we've warmed up to 20Farenheit. So I'm thinking a spray is not the way to go right now as I have no other place to relocate my 16 birds, and the guinea and rooster...
I finally understood this more when I seen a different cockeral do the same thing after watching him scarf down food, thankfully it cleared out quickly. Other then that I've only seen and heard my seabright cockeral crow once. I honestly thought that between 4 cockerals there'd be on stop...
I have a pullet who looks like him but she looks like she's getting some speckles already, but we shall see. The colors seemed all over the place when i googled D' Uccle roos. I know the odds aren't exactly in my favor of him being sweet...I've always had good luck picking pullets until this...
