When does egg production slow down??

We currently have 11 hens. We are still getting 9 to 10 eggs per day. We are NOT lighting/heating the coop, they are free range.. well, maybe pastured now, we have been working on closing in the pasture so they cant get to the neighbors or the road. Anyway, we were sort of looking forward in an...

Thats awesome :) There was a gelding at a barn I worked at that would pull all the blankets / etc off his door and throw them out in the isle, but the chair is much better :)

post your chicken coop pictures here!

Mine just like to closely investigate, if I attempt to move them off or keep them away, they pout or investigate more intently. Easier for me and them to just let them sniff the hammer/drill/ect and keep anything that could hurt them out of reach. Super glad they dont try to "help" :)

post your chicken coop pictures here!

When we bought this place, there were 7 or 8 rotted falling apart "coops" in an area we were turning into a horse pasture, so we pulled out all but the largest one. Spring rolled around and I managed to talk my hubby into getting chickens. So, we deconstructed the remaining coop, put in a raised...

Need advice Free Range VS Caged and setup

We are free ranging our chickens, so far they go in every night. I moved them completely outside by 5 weeks, in a small temporary coop with access to anywhere- the stray cat gave us some worries at first but they grew fast and by week 6 the cat left them alone. When we finished the large coop...

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

OK, well, the bantam has been seen crowing, but she has no red in the comb or wattles, thick blue legs. I thought she was a hen til I saw her crow, still saying "her" because Ive seen posts and articles about hens that crow... Guess Ill wait for the egg or lack there of on her. Thanks for the...

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

I started my own thread before I saw this one. 3 Rhode Island Reds and one Special Black that turned out to be a bantam in question. The 3 Reds are together in the first picture, and 2 with a leghorn and a known rooster in the second. I would like to know if & how many are roosters Reds #1,2,3...
