    I just walked out to feed and water the chicks and found one of our black pullets faced down and buried, literally, the chicks kicked up all of the shavings from one spot and covered her. At first I thought maybe they trampled her to death or something, she was one of the bigger ones though...

    Okay, thank you. That makes sense, I was wondering how it would look/work. At any rate I hope they'll be cute. Another question is even though they are developed and sold as laying hens, I've heard the next generation down aren't as good of layers and was wondering if they'd make okay meat birds?

    Just curious. We have red sex links, black sex links, and possibly amber links. Out of those we have only one Red sex-link rooster, so what would the chicks look like if he mated the black sex links or the amber links?

    We tried that but it only seemed to freak him and our dogs out.... my dogs are currently in the other room and aren't very happy that my "top" is chirping... I worry if they start barking again they'll scare the poor baby to death...
