Hello All,
I am fascinated by the thought of Pasturing Poultry, but I currently live in Arizona on an acre. I cannot cultivate a large area of grasses, and am looking for alternative feeding methods.
Suggestions please!

A Douglas Quail has decided that my garden is a perfect place to incubate her eggs. It is a safe location for them to hatch, but I'm concerned about the damage they may do in my garden when they do hatch? I would like to provide them safe escort (protection from my black lab) while they exit...
a red light.... what a bright idea. I don't have a light on them since it is so warm here in AZ. They have plenty of room but no entertainment. I'll put my kids on the job to make toys!
Thanks,

I have a 3 week old cornish X rock that suddenly has gotten a bloody butt and the other chicks in the brood are pecking at it. What can I do?
I would attach a pic of it but I don't know how to add it here
Please help!

I have two roosters, one is black and a real beauty, and as mean as he is pretty! We got our chickens from Murray Mc Murray and he was the "special chick". The kinder gentler roo is a RIR, but I'm concerned that if I get rid of the aggressive one the mild one might go mean in his place. Has...
Last night my 6 week old chicks spent their first night out in the chicken run. My black lab got one of their heads through the poultry wire. She's been really good about watching them, guess I know why she was watching. Any training techniques for getting beyond this? I had hoped that the...
I'm putting together my chicken run now. We had a Harris Hawk perched in our tree watching the whole family. I am putting chicken wire over the top, but I just read of a guy who ran fishing line over the top of his run and that was enough to discourage his hawks. I'm putting poultry netting...
we are first timers at raising baby chicks and we are a little worried. Our chicks were hatched on valentines day and arrived at the post office on Feb 17th. We had 27 when we started and are now down to 24!
We have a nice cozy brooder box, the chicks roam about an peep, are eating well and...
I've heard that if you get them from a good hatchery they are 97% correct when they sex them (nobody's perfect) Ours are straight run so we should get 50/50 hens/roosters.
hey Kisha! us too. We ordered from MM and have the same issue. We are so excited and have never had chicks before. Which breed did you order; ours are straight run RIR
