I have a 3 week old cornish X rock that suddenly has gotten a bloody butt and the other chicks in the brood are pecking at it. What can I do?

I would attach a pic of it but I don't know how to add it here

Please help!

thanks

Are you using a red light in the brooder? If not, get one.

Then add things to the brooder that will distract the pickers to something else. A mirror, roosts or rocks to climb on, a hanging toy with a bell or something else shiny, clumps of sod (be sure to give free choice grit).

Make sure the brooder is big enough for all the chicks. Cramped quarters will cause picking.

Good luck with you little ones and WELCOME to BYC's.

a red light.... what a bright idea.

I don't have a light on them since it is so warm here in AZ. They have plenty of room but no entertainment. I'll put my kids on the job to make toys!
