I wanted to thank those who helped me determine my hen was actually a roo. My friend came over on Sunday and helped me butcher him. It was harder watching him in the cone than I thought it would be and I didn't make the kill cut. But I did everything after that with her guidance.
He was...
Stink. I think deep-down I knew it but this is my first flock. So now what? Is he old enough for the dinner table? I can't have him crowing and giving away my stealth flock....sigh
I am off to Tempe Feed - they have organic grower. Still feeling a mix of idiocy for buying it without checking closely and anger for them selling it to me WITH my chicks - they knew I was buying it for them. Lesson learned.
It is Nature's Own Organic. AND I checked the bag again to see what type - they (Ace Hardware, where I bought the chicks) gave me LAYER for MY CHICKS. I didn't see it when I bought them because there was a tag covering the bottom where is says layer. I feel like an idiot. Have I done...
I signed up for that a couple of days ago, super excited. But I'm out of feed as of tomorrow so I need to get something. I bought organic feed when I got the chicks but now realizing it doesn't say grower on it or anything for that matter, just organic chicken feed. Sigh.
