Arizona Chickens

Thank you. It's so hard to explain to family when they think you're child is 'normal' and is just a spoiled, rude brat. I have tried to explain to my gradmother and my father and both of them think I just don't discipline my kids right. There is just so much you can do. If I died today, I could honestly say, I did my best.

I hear you! Billy was big for his age. When he was 2, he looked like a 4 y/o, so we really got dirty looks. My "bird finger" got a lot of exercise back then. For a long time my family didn't understand what autism was all about, so they didn't get it either. They've gotten better over the years. Those first few years, he was hell on wheels. Now he's the coolest, most go-with-the-flow guy you could ever meet.I'm pretty lucky. Between us, My hubby and I have the six coolest kids you'd ever want to meet.

It is Nature's Own Organic. AND I checked the bag again to see what type - they (Ace Hardware, where I bought the chicks) gave me LAYER for MY CHICKS. I didn't see it when I bought them because there was a tag covering the bottom where is says layer. I feel like an idiot.

Have I done something horrible to my girls? They are only about 9 weeks! I repeat, I feel like an idiot.

I'm going to Higley Feed today - any suggestions?????
I know this is a little late but I was at Aden's Hay Oasis and they had Organic Feed. I'd call and see if they have Organic Chick Start.

OK,
I bought the dirt, 4 bags at 2.47 each, removed the rocks and spread the dirt out in a corner of the run. They love it. Today, because it was so hot, I turned on the misters again. I went out later to check on them...LOL I had placed the dirt right under the misters which are on the ceiling. Two of my chickens were there covered in mud rolling around in the wet dirt, all muddy, having a grand old time. I couldn't believe it! I placed the dirt in the wrong spot right where it is the wettest. :) They are too funny! Can you bathe a chicken?

This is also my chicken that just started laying eggs. I walked out to check on them and she was sitting on her nest bright and early. I left and walked back to the house but as I left she started screaming "bock bock bock" at the top of her lungs, she didn't stop screaming and she was really loud. I go rushing back out to the cage thinking there is a problem. I imagined her stuck somewhere in trouble or egg bound. There she is just standing in the middle of the run, not in the nest, just screaming. I couldn't figure out what her problem was so I went to check to see if there was an egg and sure enough in her nest there was an egg. As soon as I picked it up...silence. That was it. She was just letting me know it was there I guess. What a character!
How funny. Chickens will let you know there are eggs in there. They are so proud of themselves, I suppose. I have hens that let me know their going in to lay an egg and then when they get done. The songs the same. Guess they just want to give me a heads up. My girls all have a different song too. When I hear them now, I know who just laid an egg. My Ideal 236 Leghorns just squawk and sound the same.
