I just ordered eggs online from Cooper's Quail Farm off Ebay. All arrived safely and 28 out of 31 hatched. If you have any worries about getting eggs through the mail you shouldn't. Just make sure the person you are ordering from is experienced with shipping eggs. Also, don't waste a trip...
Yea, I was always told that being cold makes you more susceptible to getting the virus by weakening the immune system. That, and the fact that people tend to congregate indoors during the colder months allows the virus to spread more freely in winter.
I voted I don't know, but an old man told me not long ago that the only serious money he ever made raising quail was with Jumbo Bobwhite. He said people only wanted the Coturnix to eat (or eggs) and only wanted the Bobwhite to hunt. According to him, the Jumbos brought both groups to him...
I use hot water to raise it quickly. Just fill up my bowls with steaming hot water out the faucet and put them in there. You just have to watch the temp though. The hot water will cause it to go up.
Yea, I guess you could say I did my homework lol. I had been raising Coturnix (although not hatching any), so I've been reading the quail threads for a while. I still think I got lucky though. I mean shipped eggs, an LG, and my first time. Man you should've seen how proud I was. I couldn't...
Just wanted to update ya'll on my first hatch ever and the LG that actually delivered lol. I ordered 34 bobwhite quail eggs off Ebay- 3 of them never started developing so I was left with 31. Out of those, 28 hatched and all are doing well. I haven't done the math, but the percentage was a...
I just hatched some bobwhites myself. They started yesterday morning (Day 23) and were still breaking out at lunch today. I'm starting to wonder if the temps of my incubator were off in one area because none of the eggs in a two row stretch hatched (if that makes sense lol). I'm beginning to...
I'm in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and I can't tell you how many tornado warnings we've had in the past couple of weeks. But luckily everything has stayed just north of us. Lot of folks have lost everything.
How do you guys typically go about adding size to your standard bobwhites? Do you simply only breed your biggest ones? Or would you bring in some Georgia Giants or Butlers. I'm starting with some Tenn. Reds and just looking for ideas if I want to get bigger birds (without necessarily just...

That's what I was looking for, some ways to customize it. The LG has got to be better than the styrofoam ice chest bator I made. Even it hatched a few for me though. I've got a couple of laptops laying around so I'll put a fan in it if those are big enough.
Geez lol. I've calibrated the little thermometer that came with it and had it plugged in since last night. Been holding at 102 F for like 15-16 hours atleast. I haven't adjusted anything- just plugged it in. I read somewhere that 102 was where I needed to be at for incubating bobwhite in a...
Hey, I just got me a new incubator and I am looking for some Tennessee Red hatching eggs. Found some on Ebay, but figured I'd check here too. Really don't need more than 30 or so. Thanks, Brian
Yea, I have read the mixed reviews. I built one myself but it would not maintain temp.- even so I managed to hatch a few. I've actually had it plugged and it has been holding at 102 F for about 3 hours. I haven't put any water in it though. I considered building another one myself, but I...
I just bought me a LG and had a few questions about setting it up. All I have is the incubator (no fan, turner, or egg trays) so I was wondering if I could put a couple of chicken egg cartons in there to put the quail eggs in. If not- how do I set my eggs up in there? Also, I just fill those...
