    Suspecting a couple roos?

I've got a silver and rust Easter egger (Nutella) that has rooster behavior and pretty certain is a rooster. Also have a Delaware (Joey) that does not have rooster behavior so I'm wondering if it's just early development? 10 weeks old. These were sexed from Cackle.

    NY chicken lover!!!!

Thanx. Still working on the coops. 4x8 on stilts style. They will be adults as of Christmas so I’m hoping once we get them outside they have time to get warm feathers.

Bantam chick is the only one not growing

Did your chick make it? I have a little guinea that is about half the size or less of the others - same age. Seems good and active but today seems pretty tired. Trying to get her to eat and trying to hold and cuddle her to keep her warmer but she just cries for her mates. She’s pooping so she...

Balloon Girl picking up a new hobby with chickens.

Thank you. We have been working on our coops and they have hardware cloth from the windows, going under the roof and to the other side. We are doing our best to make sure it‘s in there solid with no holes bigger than the hardware cloth. We have the coops on stilts. We went with three coops - 1...

Love it! Yea - I was hooked the first time I saw chickens in tractor supply. Been wanting to do this for years. I was gonna wait until this spring until I saw that I could pick the date for when the chicks would come in the mail. They will be adults in December so I’ll have laying hens in the...

Thank you! Posted there too. We are in Saratoga county NY. Loving living in a “right to farm” county. Everyone who buys a house signs a statement saying they understand at anytime they can be living next to a farmer and having farm activities.

I took my two guineas to a farmer too because I just couldn’t do it. He showed me a little years ago so I know a couple things and that was my bedtime reading the night before the chickens came. I have helped skin a sheep and a pig so I know once I get over my squeamishness I’m ok and I have to...

Thank you! I haven’t read a paper book in a few years but I’m gobbling (he he he) them up now! Bought Storey’s and can’t get through it fast enough.

Balloon Girl picking up a new hobby with chickens.

A few years ago we had a chicken for a summer until he disappeared and then later had two guineas that we had to put in the freezer since having fowl was against codes in our city. The guineas were great until we had to keep getting them from the back door of the diner across the street. Then I...
