NY chicken lover!!!!

glad to hear NY chicken lovers. I'm back into chickens since my wife died 6 years ago. I've starting with Java, my main flock. ( Sandhill) BCM, Delaware, EE's (TSC) and Americana. (Cackle) An Aussie, Sapphire gem. I've got 9 Deathlayer chicks broody hatched. A del hen and BCM hen. NN that are very heavy from TSC. Sandhill sent 9 extras but I have no idea what they are. 80 total. Looking to get rid of the Sandhill extras. The plan is to have one coop Java, one coop Delaware, One coop EE's and Americana, One coop BCM, (though I really would rather Cuckoo Marans or Birchens).
Dels don't usually go broody and she's a good mom. The 2 younger Coppers went broody and hatched chicks. I do have CROW a Ceryami and ZOMBIE, a guy gave me some eggs for a broody and I kept them. Anyhow I'm hoping to make connections and it's be nice to do a chicken stock. TTFN,
I'm sorry to hear about your wife my condolences.

Wow thats a huge flock and bet they keep you busy!

I’m in Saratoga County, NY. New to chickens and wanting to learn more about wintering them. Mine won’t be adults until December.
Welcome aboard!!!!

Winter is usually a lot easier than extreme heats of summer. Post a pic of the coupe and the birds and everyone here can give you good advice. Chickens will come out into the snow and walk around fine and will go back into the coupe if they get cold.

hiii! does anyone near long island or NYC have sexed and vaccinated chicks, NPIP certified? I can't find any near me at this time and idk if i should be hatching eggs bc i cannot keep roosters. thanks.

I am getting sexed chicks by mail the week of Aug 21, from My Pet Chicken. They will be going to the Bronx. You're welcome to combine with me if you'd like. Sexed chicks are not 100% certain; only adult birds would be. Chicks are 90/95%, depending on the breed

Thanx. Still working on the coops. 4x8 on stilts style. They will be adults as of Christmas so I’m hoping once we get them outside they have time to get warm feathers.
