Step one, was to establish a base for the coop.
We moved the gravel until we were relatvely level
Step two, we built the floor frame from some 2x6's
that we salvaged from the old barn we are tearing down.

The floor is 8'x4'6", so we had to use two sheets of plywood to cover the frame...

I just got my Hova-Bator last week and added this fan yesterday. I han't put the 12 volt power supply in this photo yet but I have it in there now. I am running it now for a test and it seems to be doing well. I have the fan running so that the air is being pushed upward.

We picked up our Gold Laced Wyandotte chicks today paid for 8 and they gave us 10. The people are real nice at Mt. Healthy Hatchery in Cincinnati. We feel fortunate to have them close by. I highly recommend them.

I flick the chick real hard on the back of the head with my middle finger and it instantly dispatches them. Not that I enjoy it, but sometimes it just has to be done.

let me tell you something about incubation temperature. I have hatched countless thousands of pheasant and quail eggs, a few hundred chicken and duck eggs. I have had temp. ranges as much as 98 deg. to 101 deg in my incubators. I have never had a real catastrophe with any hatches in this range...
