My hubs JUST got a text back from them. They don't have any right now, but they're going to check with a customer. :fl I love those breeds, but I'm not set up to hatch eggs right now. I'm just going to order some chicks and continue to look for hens. Thank you, though!!
Oops, forgot to quote.
;)Yes, as I said, they're going to be right behind my house--a very different situation from the pasture. We have a dog that will alert us to any predators, and I'll be able to hear what's going on. I'm a very light sleeper. The coop will be reinforced. We haven't had any...

Hey everyone. I'm in the Alexandria area. I just put down my last laying hen. :( Something has been picking them off one or two a day. After trying everything else, I finally locked them up (down to two hens and two roosters) and the "monster" still ripped a hole in the roof and took one hen out...
I use shrink bags for whole birds and think they look great. With parts, I don't know a way to make the meat lay flat for a good presentation for sale. It just turns into a ball of meat at the bottom of the bag. I did that for my own freezer last year. How do you do yours?
I'm selling boneless/skinless parts this year and looking for better options for packaging. I've used shrink bags, but only like them for whole birds. I tried foam trays for the last batch, but don't think they're going to last long in the freezer. The reason I didn't try a vacuum sealer was...
I don't think I had the best results. No company was clear on the effectiveness of their wrap. Some said it was good for freezer use and other said not, but no one said which grade was best. Ended up buying a generic meat wrap and a wrapping machine. The machine came in defective and dented. The...
This is our first year using foam trays for parts instead of freezing whole birds. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice!
1. What wrap do you use? I can buy meat wrap, but I don't know what guage is best. Also, what about store-bought plastic wrap? What's the guage on that?
2. I don't have...
Thank you, everyone. I came across another thread where everyone was mentioning Premier, but Kencove seems to have a better price. Does anyone have any opinions about Kencove?
I posted this question the other day and got a few responses, but I thought you guys might have some opinions to share. I'm trying to choose a brand of electric netting. A lot of you have said Premier, but I've seen others say Kencove is the way to go. Kencove seems to have the better price, so...
This is a long shot, but....
Is anyone going east through or near Weatherford, TX on Monday, July 23? I'm trying to get one of Blessedchicken's puppies brought to or near DFW. My husband will be flying in that afternoon and then heading east to Louisiana. It would be awesome if he could meet...
