I haven’t, will I be looking for tiny bugs in her feathers? Also, is the “white dust” look on her waddles (and some on her comb) considered normal, or should that be concerning?
Hi! Our Daisy apparently plucked her chest feathers, however she is not broody. So, this has me perplexed. Her skin looks really red. Is this normal, some kind of growth that shouldn’t be there, or something else??
This is what happens when your rocks aren’t big enough. I have a fake plant in the pot for fall, and covered the dirt up with rocks I had from another project and they tore through those pretty easily. We have 4 chickens. I thought I was fooling them, but they’re determined! Don’t underestimate...
The big rocks worked out great! The mulch was such a mess, and we got big enough rocks that the chickens don’t scratch in them. They will walk on them, but they don’t move them. Here are some pics. They measure about 3-6 inches.
Meet Stormy and Sunshine…they are a day or two shy of 6 weeks old. I picked up some fertilized eggs from a local farmer and put them under our broody hen and these two hatched out. Any idea of breed or gender?
We have a broody hen, Asian Black, a year old this month. Early this spring she went broody the first time, after a couple of months I finally broke her. She was great, then about a month later, she went broody again. I decided to get her three possible fertilized eggs from a local farmer. I put...
We have an Asian Black hen, 10 months old. She went broody in February and I’m still trying to break her. We have a small flock of 4 in our backyard, we got them when they were a week old, so we’re going through the broodiness for the first time. When I let them out in the morning I block access...
We have a black Asian hen, she has been broody for aver a month. We only have hens, so not fertilized. We gather the eggs before she can sit on them too long, we’ve also blocked the egg box with a board, we’ve moved her from the coop to the yard and shut the door to the coop so she can’t return...
I noticed this white spot on my chicken’s foot...first time chicken owner here...is this a problem I need to address or will it go away? She is a Black Asian, currently broody and about 8 months old. She free ranges in our tiny backyard most everyday for several hours. No predator could have...
Here is the area I need to eliminate the mulch. They’re coop is a moreless a VRBO, they’re taken care of in that respect and they have access to our tiny yard, we just need to preserve our landscaping as much as possible. Here is a pic of one of the areas I am needing to do rock. I just want to...
