Thank you, forum. Thank you for the offers to help. I am in the process of determining a possible home for the girls. My main concern is pet status. Again, these chickens have been raised as pets, and have been treated very well. I am absolutely full of gratitude at the offers of help...
Yes, rodriguez...you're right...I'm not breaking a law. I'm breaking a rule of the HOA. It's ridiculous. It's mostly my hate-filled, bored neighbor that is driving this whole thing. He is awful...he is bored...he is a complete jack***. Thank you for your support.

A t-sip!!! That might have been a hassle if my family had gone over...Fightin' Texas Aggie classes - '75, '84, '97, and now '11!...must admit that we do have one of you in the family as well...silly accountant! And i will totally forgive ya! Especially if you got his autograph! That...
Oh, TXMom, you have your hands full, hon. Again, thank you for the kind words. Thank you, forum, for your help and caring.
Farmergal...sounds like heaven there in CA...bless you.
TXMom...pray about it...talk to your husband...see what he says. The only thing you'd be missing is the baby stage...cute, yes, but also somewhat difficult. Think about it. And thank you for the compliment. I AM an excellent chicken mama. God bless. Listen, though, honey...no pressure. I...
I appreciate the well-wishes. I am willing to transport the girls...I don't know how far. They are Gulf Coast girls...would they freeze up north? I guess they could be kept warmish with a heat lamp the rest of the winter, then weaned off in the spring. Anyway, thanks for thinking of us...
I live in the county where chickens are perfectly legal. No, I didn't know that the Deed Restrictions in my subdivision were anything more than "suggestions". After all, fireworks aren't allowed by the Deed Restrictions, and off they go for hours on every holiday, and many other Deed...
UPDATE: Betsy came through surgery ok. She was full of sand, feed, and other edibles. They said it basically turned to concrete. They live on a sand run (I thought that was a good thing!). Any suggestions?
UPDATE: The vet says that Betsy is so impacted that they cannot flush the crop, but must do surgery. It's expensive...but I'm going to do it. Cost-wise, it makes no sense...emotion-wise, there is no other choice. I hope she survives the anesthesia...and that there is no irreparable damage...
UPDATE and cry for help: After spending the night in the coop with the others...all food was removed, water only...the crop is still huge and full. I brought her back in and put her in the kennel with aviacharge water. She is now refusing the oil-soaked bread...maybe she'll get hungry and try...
UPDATE: After all day in the kennel with water and one successful feeding of oil-soaked bread, the crop seems a bit more pliable...just a bit. She laid an egg...she pooped. I can't tell if she took in any water...thought I felt some fluid in the crop. Putting the other girls to bed, I found...
Updating: She greedily ate the oil-soaked bread, and ingested a lot of oil in the process...the bread was completely saturated. What I thought was interesting was that she burped twice while eating. She still seems happy...no depression. But the crop really is ridiculously huge. When I let...
