Limping Buff goose, no apparent cause.

I just caught her so that I can weigh her and administer the calcium gluconate. She can sure move fast when she wants to get away. I hope I didn’t scare her too much. She drank after the CG dosage and is now back in the fire pit eating charcoal.

Thank you! I will do that.

Limping Buff goose, no apparent cause.

Thank you so much, Goosebaby for replying and sharing your knowledge! She is on 22% protein chicken feed from a local feed store that is suppose to be good for all flock from chicks to layers. I also see her grazing on grass. I give the geese romaine lettuce twice a week. Her appetite is good...

Limping Buff goose, no apparent cause.

I am not sure whether I should start a new post or piggy back on this post for the same problem. If I need to do a new post, I certainly will. My 3 year old Buff goose is exhibiting the same symptoms. She started limping 3 days ago for no apparent reason. She doesn’t have bumble-foot. It is...

Gender please - Australorp rooster cross

No, not near Vermont. 😁 They are beautiful. I gave them back to their previous owner and am hoping to get hens from a subsequent hatch when they are old enough to sex reliably.

    TSC Duckling Identification

I love my Saxony! She’s so sweet and gentle. We call her Lonesome because her husband was killed by a wandering dog and my Magpie ducks still have not fully accepted her into their club after more than half a year. I’m happy that she has babies and will no longer be lonely.

    TSC Duckling Identification

My sweet Saxony went broody and has been sitting on eggs that keep going bad because her Magpie pen-mates keep kicking her off the nest to sit for 5-10 minutes before they get bored. I got her some ducklings at TSC today so that she can have babies. She keeps trying to steal the chicks my hen...

Gender please - Australorp rooster cross

I was given these two chicks in a trade. They were supposed to have been two pullets, but now that their feathers have grown out more, I think they are both cockerels. The saddle feathers on both are pointy (right?). One of them has skinny pointy neck feathers, but the other’s neck feathers are...

Need someone who can read barred head spots like tea leaves- Cream Legbar x Dominque chicks

I came across this post looking for clues to sex my new chicks from an Australorp rooster and Dominique/EE/White Rock hens. This was such a fun post with adorable follow-up pictures. Thank you!

    Blue-eyed American Buff geese?

Your Dandelion is so pretty! I got them as goslings from a local backyard breeder, not a hatchery. They are only about 8 months old. It’s okay with me if they are crosses. I was just curious. Do they both look like males to you? They both get their (longish) necks to the ground to hiss at my...

    Blue-eyed American Buff geese?

I am not sure, but from their behavior, I think they are both male. That’s very interesting! Is the eye color one way to determine the sex of these geese? That would make things much easier!

    Blue-eyed American Buff geese?

Is there such a thing as blue-eyed American Buff geese? I read recently that Buffs are suppose to have brown eyes. My two Buffs have blue eyes. Are they a mix of Buff and something else?

My chickens ate some Four O’Clock flower seeds

Thank you Debbie292d. They must not have eaten much. They all seem perfectly fine today. I will keep your advice in mind for future reference.

My chickens ate some Four O’Clock flower seeds

There is a wide swath of Four O’Clock flower plant in my yard. The seeds are ripening and falling on the ground. Some of my chickens were eating them this morning. I am reading that the entire plant, including the seeds are toxic to people and animals. They all seem to be fine at the moment, but...
