From rags to riches, let me know what you think (my journey on my chicken coop build)

No rooster. I have 10 pullets on order now(2 Easter eggers, 3 barred rocks, 5 buff Orpington). Coop is huge but all I need is 10 birds

From rags to riches, let me know what you think (my journey on my chicken coop build)

I’ve been out of the chicken game for a few years now when I sold my land and home a few years ago and temporarily moved to the city while on the hunt for some bigger better property. We closed on our new place about 6 months ago (10 acres) and it was beautiful but the previous owner had not...

    Finally no more food wasted!

I tilted it slightly towards the end I used a 2" hole saw. And the cardboard is to keep the feed from flowing out over the holes. Watch the video i posted up there ^. And it explains it perfectly

    Finally no more food wasted!

Here's a good video on YouTube. I made my barrier out of cardboard I glued to the inside of the feeder pipe. The elbow I had has a lip that won't allow the pipe to go that far down like the video.

    Finally no more food wasted!

After going thru different designs I've seen on this great site. I decided to make my own with a couple ideas from others. I got 4" thin wall pipe with a 90 and two caps. Glued a piece of cardboard inside the upright pipe that holds the feed about 1/2 inside the "feeder" pipe so it would only...

Help with run design, ideas (pics inside)

Well after debating closed run or not I decided I was more worried about keeping them in there "place". It's not hawk proof but we haven't had a lot of problems with hawks. They can also hide under or in their coop. They have ample shade. Let me know what you think I ran the same fencing we...

Help with run design, ideas (pics inside)

I have been free ranging my chickens as I live on 200 acres. The one acre around my house is fenced in with this Which the chickens cannot get thru except in a couple spots which I am going to fix. I was thinking of building them a smaller fenced in area(run) using the existing corner of my...

Need some opinions on my "run" idea

Thank you for the advice. I guess I will just bite the bullet and make them a true run. All of your reasons make perfect since. I am a first time chicken owner, I know they will still be happy outside in the run, but I just wanted to see of I could make the free ranging work. I will still...

Need some opinions on my "run" idea

I recently had my first ever attack. Something got 4 of my 6 chickens that I free ranged so I am going to do what I said I wasn't and make them a so called run. I live on 200 acres but my house on one acre fenced in with small gap welded wire. The problem is the 9 week olds that I have and am...
