dawg53 - I know I've read many posts in the past where you have discussed proper worming. I thought there was a recommendation to use Valbazen but then to use a different one 10 days later. I can't remember the name - is it Safeguard?
Are any of the recommended natural wormers that you find on a google search worth the time and effort? For example, I've seen garlic, ACV, carrots, wormwood, cayenne - just to name a few off the top of my head!!!
I happened upon an article talking about the beak and leg color differences of laying vs non-laying. As well as the finger widths between the pubic bones and between the vent and the keel. If this information is correct, I wonder if a molting hen will appear the same as a non-laying hen?
Thank you. I have been looking at Central Hatchery as well. Just don't know how I feel about ordering the straight run. Also would have to find someone else to go in on the order because I cannot do 100 birds.
Aside from standing guard at the next boxes - too many chickens and not enough time - are there any physical signs I can look for to determine if a chicken is still laying eggs?
I'm sorry if there is already another similar thread. I've looked and can't find one. I'm wondering which hatchery/supplier is my best bet for meat birds - price-wise and quality? Any recommendations?
Grrr, the postal service can be so frustrating. I can only laugh about it a year later - but, last spring I purchased hatching eggs from Georgia. Four boxes worth, sent priority. I am in Kansas. Two boxes made it within somewhat reasonable time (not 2-3 days though), one box showed up within...
