I am still wondering about the chicks, thanks to all that have replied. I have been moving them outside during the day and inside at night with a light. I would love to put them out in a chicken tractor right now. I am wondering how big before they can be on chicken wire? The bottom of our is...
Ok, this is the first time I have had chicks in the summer and I was wondering with it being so warm out if I can move the broody box outside on our back porch. I have 25 Cornish rock chicks that are 5 days old. It just seems pointless to keep them in the basement with it being close to 90...
Thanks so much for your post!!! We had a bunch of red rangers and in the process of collecting them for processing one flew the coop!!! We do not process ourselves, and I see no point in taking her ( I have to travel quite a ways), I wasn't sure what to do with her?! I am going just going to...
OK, finally by the grace of God, it's 60 degrees here in the mountains, so all the girls are out and about, I noticed one of Black Australorp had yucky stuff all over her fluffly rear end.....picked her up and it looks like a hemorrhoid kinda, bloody ball right by her vent, she is still laying...
I have about 20+ hens that free range and I haven't noticed anything wrong with any of them, but the last two days there has been a small amount of blood smeares on an egg. I have no idea what is going on.
Just want to let everyone know that chick is AOK!!!! We just let nature do it's course and 2 weeks later, she is back to normal! It was wry neck, but thankfully she is fine.
what if your big tom (bourbon red) is on top another turkey stomping away ( the turkey is younger, and I am pretty sure it is also a tom) is the big one trying to kill the younger one???? I don't want an injury on my hands
The last few times I have cracked open my cochins eggs they are fertile....I think she will go broody anytime now. Can I just let her sit on them for a week and then candle, if nothing take them and eat them. I don't want to use an incubator, I really want to try the natural way.
Yes it sure does . We have put water down her beak and vitamins. See what nature has in store for her. Do you have any suggestions? I have never had this happen.
HELP. I went down this morning to feed the babies, they are about a month old and so far have been doing fine. Well much to my dismay one of them can't pick her head up. I have never had this happen in 3 years of raising chicks. What is it, and what can I do???
I have been reading everyone posts and want your opinion. I have 30 chickens that free range and 5(well now 4) Turkeys....two of the turkeys are full grown toms, the others are smaller, only about 6 months....well a few weeks ago 4 chickens vanished over a week period...no feathers, no blood no...
I checked and the temp in the room is about 65, the box is thick plywood on bottom and all sides with a top that has chicken wire, My husband needs to put a piece of insulation over the window (a golf ball went through it over the summer) and we have a table we can put it up on. I feel confident...
