I plan to process meat birds between 6 to 10 weeks or sooner depending on size, are they ok to hang in the coop for that time being with the layers or should I get a tractor or outdoor pen for them...

Call me crazy, but my one of my older hens is laying eggs.

My first two I ever raised that are still alive are 6 years old. I dont see the barred rock at all ever in a nesting box anymore but the RIR sure is broody but I dont think she is laying either, just likes to hog the nest and stay there. Being they are my first two they get to keep on living as...

Topic of the Week - Integrating Chicks into an Adult Flock

The past few years I have raised Chicks I have put them out in the coop at 6 to 8 weeks old for good. Once the weather in Minnesota end of May is nice and they have a good chunk of feathers it has worked out fine. One year I would put them out for 30 minutes or an hour or so into the run to play...

What does everyone do in the frigid lands with compost after coop clean up. I dump it in my back property but it just sits there, sometimes I offer people.to come get it for free for gardens, is it ok to maybe put it in the coop yard and let the chickens work it down to dirt. I justdont want to...
