My first time having a small backyard flock of 6 chickens and one of my Easter Egger "hens" is a Rooster. I live in Huntington township, Long Island New York that prohibits roosters so I must sadly find a home for him. He is 8 weeks old and has been crowing for two weeks now. Please help .

My coop is completed and ready for the girls to be old enough. They are 6 weeks old now and growing so fast! I had to put a net over the brooder.

I’m going away for three days and I am so nervous about leaving our hens.

Since I just got my chicks today, this hasn't come up. I think it would be a good idea to set up " share and care" local network to help each other out. I don't blame you for being nervous!!

I just got my chicks today! All six are doing well. Immediately drank the save-a-check water and then started eating. I am very excited. I bought my six chicks from My Pet Chicken. I buy my supplies from Chestnut Vale Agway in Hicksville ( I live in Melville ) but LOVE the Away in Riverhead.

New to chickens on Long Island

Hi, I am from melville Long Island and am considering purchasing a Green coop also. Are you happy? Have you found where we can buy supplies and chickens locally? I am brand new and excited. Huntington can allow us backyard coops a maximum of 6 chickens but no Rosters.
