Feeding a sick bird irresistible food

Thanks! I wondered about the sodium, although I think the tuna is in spring water so it's probably not super high in sodium content. I'll do eggs and buttermilk, like you suggested. As for culling, I have her isolated in a crate in the house, so no worries there. Thanks again!! :)

Feeding a sick bird irresistible food

I'm looking for general feedback. I have a bird who has a pretty significant upper respiratory illness. Of course I didn't notice until she was already pretty weak (weak enough to actually show me any symptoms - they so love to hide their weakness from the flock). On the plus side, she was still...

    Breed/sex of two young chickens

Woo hoo, thanks! I was hoping they were both little ladies :)

    Breed/sex of two young chickens

Hello everyone: I got these two chickens at a feed store that I'm not that familiar with. The orange and white one they told me was an RIR, which is obviously incorrect (Looks like a golden comet to me). The white one they said is a white leghorn, which I have no experience with, but I think...

My chicken pal down the street

I am bad at telling sex. Is this a young roo or a young hen? I just met him/her walking down the street this morning, a couple doors down, hanging out on somebody's lamp by the sidewalk. If it's a girl, she seems awfully skinny. What breed is it?

How many are pullets? RI Red, Ameraucana

Yay! Thank you all so much for your input and expertise. I did figure that I was getting an "easter egger" rather than a true ameraucana, but I won't begrudge her the title in casual circles. I'm so excited that my rooster-home-finding days are over!

How many are pullets? RI Red, Ameraucana

Thanks, Xilver! I was really paranoid a few weeks ago as I was scrambling for rooster homes for my first two, and I think after being in denial about those two being boys, I'm now in denial about any of the others being girls. Hopefully after a few more people chime in I will get my confidence...

How many are pullets? RI Red, Ameraucana

So I found homes for two cockerels this summer, much to my chagrin. Now I'm wondering how many of the next generation of three purportedly pre-sexed chicks I got from the same place are in fact pullets. I am still a total beginner, but the saddle feathers and deep red comb/wattle color coming...

What gender is this 3 month old standard black cochin?

I could cry. Thanks, y'all. I'll have to go out begging again to find the dude a home.

What gender is this 3 month old standard black cochin?

This sweet fluffy 3-month old black cochin was raised with a black minorca who turned out to be a rooster. I busted my butt to find the roo a home on a ranch, and then this one started crowing. I was hoping that "she" just missed her buddy, but he's been gone a week and the crowing continues...
