Oh, no, no! He isn't aggressive in that he flies up at me or anything like that. He is only aggressive if the hens are upset about something, which upsets him. Otherwise he just looks at me from a distance. He only challenges me a little. Sometimes he will flap his wings or shake his head, and...
I have 20 hens and 2 roosters, all raised from eggs. My favorite roo, Clifford, was a cuddly ball of fluff and feathers until he was about 4 months old. He was the first to jump in my lap when I went in the pen. In the 4 months since then he is stand-offish and sometimes even a little...
Thanks! I was wondering what my boy had. Looks like your roo's. Mine is half-Polish, half-mutt (possibly barnevelder or wyandotte blend), or possibly Cream legbar. He looks exactly like either possible Dad did as a chick, except Dad has a single.
Thanks! I understand that. I don't force them, only offer. I was wondering if this will go back to the way it was. I see people with super tame adult roosters all the time, so is this just a period or is there something more I need to do than just hanging with them? They do enjoy my company as...

When I raised a baby pigeon, who barely had pin feathers, I put the food in my closed hand, then the baby stuck his beak into my fist (circle of finger and thumb). But this baby looks older. Does it have the sides on the beak? If so, then the method I used would work. Also, better for the chick...
Hi y'all! I'm not having any violence issues with my two roos, (19 and 16 weeks), but they are being different. My younger boy, Socks, would run to me and jump into my hands a week ago. Then, suddenly, he hardly lets me near him and squawks when I try to pick him up. The older roo, Grumpy, has...
This is my Pavlovskaya, Socks. She was unable to stand when she hatched on March 17. Then she had a period of splay legs. I tried the sock treatment (hence her name), but that didn't cure her. She is a part-time star gazer, but she is otherwise healthy. Socks eats, drinks, poops, and gets...
