Thank You everyone....it was very hard...but once I made the decision and followed through with it...I knew it was the right thing to do for her...and thanks to those who shared their experiences....it helps to reassure me that indeed it was the best thing for her.... -

I finally made an appointment with a vet to have Petunia put down...as hard as that is....her feathers are starting to look bad...if I don't clean her eyes daily they get all goopy...the leg on her bad side is beginning to atrophy and is always contracted up into her body..I can't keep her clean... -

She didn't get hurt....at that time my chickens and ducks were in a yard that was about 1/4 acre...totally fenced in...with no way of her to get hurt.....she started out just limping....and it continually got worse...one of the vets thinks it is something neurological....I get a different ideas... -

She will be 3...and she stopped laying probably in March....she has been given niacin....one vet thought she may have had a stroke...another parasites that got into her brain.... -

I have posted before about a duck of mine that was having trouble walking....this was clear back in Feb. We have moved and she is the only duck that I have kept because she cannot walk....She has been to two vets and neither one can be certain what is wrong...so she has been treated with... -

My vet never mentioned anything about an actual stroke...he just said something neurological was going on......I wanted to make sure she wasn't in pain...and he said she isn't....I mean...how do you know if a duck is in pain??? My husband won't pick her up because of those wings.... -

when I put her in water...she can swim although she does sink down a bit more than my other ducks...which is why I only put her in a small tub now...but she can swim just fine....I was putting her in the little landscape pond twice a day for awhile...but we are moving and my other ducks went to... -

I only put her in a small tub of water ...and only for a long enough time for her to get a little bath...and then she loves to be sprayed also......I will certainly try the yeast I guess I didn't even think of that....She eats my organic chicken layer... -

This poor duck, Petunia, is still unable to walk....I had the farm vet look at her...I wanted to make sure she wasn't in pain....he thought she had gotten hurt....but these guys are in 1/4 acre that is fenced in and no way for her to have injured herself....so I have no idea what is wrong....she... -

I will try the epsom salts....I'm afraid this happened while I was not able to do my chores....it was during a terrible cold spell....this is the first I have been able to get out to the barn....I filled the duck pond today and put her in to swim around.....she uses her right leg just... -

I know to well about the hypothermia.....my granddaughter has 4 silkies and those stinkers kept getting into the duck pond...I almost lost two of them about three weeks apart...one I found with his hear barely above water....I thought he was a goner...but I rushed him into the house and used my...
